Education

I studied at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. My first degree is a BA in International Relations, second degree is in Sustainability Development & Planning. And finally, I studied my Masters in Sustainable Development Planning specializing in just energy transitions and decarbonization pathways in South Africa, focusing on different justice frameworks and how we can be more inclusive of affected workers in the energy transition.

Passion for Nature Conservation

During my first degree, I wasn’t quite sure which direction I wanted to pursue. Ultimately, I chose sustainability because I have always been passionate about preserving nature and enjoy spending time outdoors. My love for conservation, working with people, and ensuring we have worked towards a sustainable and equitable future for all.

Work Experience

In previous roles, I worked as a research analyst at the National Business Initiative in South Africa and the World Benchmarking Alliance in Amsterdam. There, I focused on decarbonization pathways and human rights strategies. Additionally, during my master’s, I gained work experience at Eskom, where I worked for the government. These roles provided me with significant experience in the circular economy and promoting corporate accountability. These experiences have shown me the importance of supporting companies in achieving their sustainability goals, which motivates me to make a difference at Hitma as well.

Sustainability Consultant at Hitma

After my first interview, I immediately knew I wanted to work at Hitma because of the pleasant work atmosphere and the potential in the field of sustainability. In my role as a sustainability consultant, I ensure that Hitma’s sustainability policies and practices are in good order. Additionally, I work on ESG and CSRD reporting and support various teams with their sustainability and circularity projects. My work involves project management, consultancy, and coordinating greener strategies at Hitma. Every day is different and brings new opportunities, which makes the job exciting. The colleagues and challenges at Hitma keep me motivated and enthusiastic.

Free Time

In my free time, you’ll often find me running, baking, or enjoying a glass of wine with friends. I am social and love high-intensity sports. Additionally, I have a strong connection to nature, so you’ll often find me in parks or outdoors. I currently live in Amsterdam with a housemate, but I will be moving soon. Originally, I’m from South Africa, and I’ve been living in the Netherlands for two years now.
